Reports: Alabama Edge Defender Set for Transfer Portal Move

Freshman edge defender Jayshawn Ross plans to enter the transfer portal, multiple sources reported Friday. The 6-foot-4, 239-pound Missouri native saw minimal playing time in 2024, with his only action coming against Mercer.

A former four-star recruit ranked 15th among edge defenders in the 2024 class by 247Sports Composite, Ross will utilize the special five-day transfer window following Alabama’s ReliaQuest Bowl appearance.

Ross becomes the second edge defender to transfer from Alabama’s 2024 roster, following Keanu Koht. The position group also loses Que Robinson to expired eligibility.

Looking ahead, Alabama retains Qua Russaw, Yhonzae Pierre, and Noah Carter at the position. Jah-Marien Latham, who filled in during injury situations, hasn’t announced his 2025 plans. The Crimson Tide recently strengthened the unit by signing Justin Hill, the nation’s 51st-ranked recruit, from Ohio State’s territory.
