The young receiver from South Florida became Miami’s first commitment for the 2027 recruiting class on Monday evening.
Ah’Mari Stevens, a standout wide receiver from Plantation American Heritage, has pledged his future to the Hurricanes. The 5-foot-11, 165-pound prospect is fresh off winning a state championship with St. Thomas Aquinas before his recent transfer to their local rival.
Following a weekend visit with the Miami coaching staff, Stevens found clarity in his college decision.
“Miami has been my team since childhood,” Stevens shared with InsideTheU before announcing. “I grew up watching their games, wearing their gear. Seeing the program’s continued growth and development made me want to be part of that journey.”
Stevens’s sophomore campaign was impressive, recording 44 receptions for 550 yards and leading his team with eight touchdowns en route to the Raiders’ sixth straight state title.
He showcased his talents nationally in August against Bishop Gorman of Las Vegas, contributing five catches for 65 yards and a touchdown in a close 29-21 loss to the eventual No. 4 ranked team in MaxPreps’ national rankings.
The commitment process was influenced significantly by coaches Kevin Beard, David Cooney, Donovan Varner, and Frank Tucker.
“Coach Beard was instrumental in my decision,” Stevens explained. “He gave me my sixth offer as a freshman and has been mentoring me since. We’ve built a strong connection since ninth grade.”
Stevens, who claims impressive speed metrics with a 10.8 in the 100-meter and a 4.39 40-yard dash, made an early impact at St. Thomas Aquinas during his freshman year – a rare achievement at the prestigious program. His freshman season yielded 23 catches, 271 yards, and one touchdown.
Miami extended their offer to Stevens last September, joining other notable programs such as Auburn, Florida State, Ole Miss, Missouri, NC State, Indiana, and FAU. He’s set to join an American Heritage offense featuring Texas quarterback commit Dia Bell and another highly-rated wide receiver for his junior season.
