Top-ranked offensive tackle prospect Ty Haywood has withdrawn his commitment from Alabama, according to On3 Recruits.The decision follows increasing indications that Haywood is leaning toward joining the Michigan program.
Questions about Haywood’s recruiting status intensified when he bypassed the early signing window with Alabama, as reported by SI’s Andrew Nemec.The Wolverines have suddenly become the leading candidate to land Haywood, despite their modest 8-5 record and seventh-place Big Ten finish.
The 6-foot-5, 285-pound lineman ranks as the nation’s No. 20 overall recruit and fourth-best offensive tackle for the 2025 class, according to 247Sports composite rankings.
The highly sought-after prospect from Denton, Texas, has fielded scholarship offers from numerous powerhouse programs, including Florida State, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Colorado, Georgia, Ohio State and Oregon.
247Sports analyst Gabe Brooks sees Haywood as a likely first-round NFL draft selection, drawing parallels to Cowboys lineman Tyler Smith.
“A commanding presence at tackle with exceptional reach for his height. Features notably long arms and extensive wingspan,” Brooks noted. “Showed steady improvement in snap reaction throughout junior campaign and dominated elite-level summer camps before senior year, climbing to the top of a talented 2025 offensive tackle class.”
Following Haywood’s departure, Alabama’s 2025 recruiting class slips to third overall, while Michigan could jump from ninth to sixth if they secure Haywood’s commitment, according to Nemec.
