‘I will not be in Austin, I don’t know if I can be in Qatar’ – Jorge Martin to miss the American Grand Prix

Jorge Martin has confirmed that he will be absent from the American Grand Prix and could also miss the Qatar Grand Prix.

The reigning MotoGP World Champion will sit out the third round of the 2025 season.

Speaking during the Argentine Grand Prix Press Conference, Martin revealed that he will not be racing in Austin. This decision follows a challenging pre-season in which he suffered fractures in both wrists and an ankle in two separate crashes.

The Aprilia Racing rider was already forced to miss the season opener in Thailand, watching from the sidelines. While his return date remains uncertain, Martin himself is doubtful about making it back in time for Round Four in Qatar. At the earliest, he could return to action at the Spanish Grand Prix in April.

“I am really struggling; it is not my moment,” Martin admitted.

“I am struggling to recover as fast as I would like. I can say that I will not be in Austin. I would like to be there, but I will not be riding in Austin. I also don’t know if I can be in Qatar.

“I would also like to take part in some sort of test before I come back. I am not feeling very good, but I know Massimo [Rivola] is working on that, so we will see what is possible.”
