Denny Hamlin’s Luck Runs Out as Yard Goes Up in Flames

Denny Hamlin finished 25th in Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Las Vegas, yet he remained the center of attention long after the weekend ended. However, it wasn’t his performance on the track that had everyone talking—it was his incredible success in the casino.

The Joe Gibbs Racing driver hit multiple jackpots over several nights in Las Vegas, raking in a total of $330,000. He shared clips of some of his biggest wins on Instagram and later discussed his remarkable luck on Monday’s episode of his Actions Detrimental podcast.

“So I went to a different machine, and I just—I put a quarter in, I win a car. I put a quarter in, I win a car,” Hamlin recalled. “That’s basically how it went. Every 5-10 minutes, it was just a new pay. So that’s what we did. It was a lot of fun.”

However, Hamlin’s fortunes took a dramatic turn on Tuesday. He posted several videos to his Instagram story showing his North Carolina yard engulfed in flames. One video simply read: “Lawnmower caught fire.”

Despite the setback, the three-time Daytona 500 champion shared some positive news later in the day. During a sponsor reveal, Hamlin announced that Progressive Insurance will be aboard his No. 11 car for 18 races in the 2025 season.

“Better call Flo.”

The Progressive sponsorship is set to debut this weekend at Homestead-Miami. Race coverage begins at 3 p.m. ET on FS1.
