The University of Texas has parted ways with head coach Rodney Terry after a lackluster third season, and the Longhorns are reportedly setting their sights on a high-profile replacement. According to CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein, Xavier’s Sean Miller is a top candidate for the job.
Miller, 56, recently led Xavier to a comeback win over Texas in the NCAA Tournament’s First Four before falling to Illinois. His track record is impressive, with 12 NCAA Tournament appearances and four Elite Eight runs, including his successful tenure at Arizona.
While Miller’s experience and recruiting prowess make him a compelling option, his past NCAA infractions at Arizona could raise concerns for Texas administrators. However, if Texas is looking for a coach with proven March success and the ability to compete in the rugged Big 12, Miller could be the right fit to get the program back on track.
