Following his unanimous selection to the 1st Team All-ACC, Miami Hurricanes quarterback Cam Ward has been recognized as both the ACC Player of the Year and Offensive Player of the Year.
Ward, a senior transfer from Washington State (and previously Incarnate Word), had a record-setting season at Miami. He threw for 4,123 yards and 36 touchdowns, totaling 41 touchdowns, all of which led the nation and set new records in Miami Hurricanes football history.
Hailing from West Columbia, TX, Ward entered high school without any scholarship offers or stars. His parents sent game footage to various colleges, and only Incarnate Word, an FCS school in San Antonio, offered him a scholarship.
Ward quickly established himself as a standout quarterback at Incarnate Word before transferring to Washington State. After two impressive seasons in Pullman, he initially declared for the 2024 NFL Draft. However, after reevaluating his options, he withdrew from the draft and committed to Miami through the transfer portal.
Upon arriving in Coral Gables, Ward demonstrated his exceptional talent, leading the Hurricanes to a 10-win season, their first since 2017. Once considered a fringe draft prospect, Ward is now regarded as one of the top quarterbacks heading into the 2025 NFL Draft and is a potential candidate for the top overall pick this year. He has matured both personally and professionally, adding these two accolades to his already impressive achievements.
